ECUADORIAN FOOD

This is what awaited us three times a day. Every meal was eaten out here in the dining area overlooking the Napo River at Yachana Lodge. Juan joined us for the meals and entertained us with stories about his life and life in Ecuador.

Shrimp and rice - Everything was so fresh.

Delicious Berry dessert. It was almost like ice cream, but not frozen.

Pineapple with honey sauce "vavaco" - That is a star fruit in the background.

Spinach soup. Very tasty!

These are some of the foods from the hotel in Quito. Notice the red fruit in the middle.
We had never seen one of those. It was like a spiky strawberry. To eat it, one must peel it to get to the center. Inside, there is a white fruit like a peeled grape. It was very sweet.

Good morning Vernona! We had Eggs, mashed yucca (mojado), and peanut sauce. Delicious!

Shrimp Ceveche. Wow!

Ceveche - Made of heart of palm, tomato, onions, and lime. Muy delicioso!

Barbeque chicken, zucchini, and potato salad

Tomato soup - WITH POPCORN!

Potato Soup

Embarajado de bananas - The most delicious thing that we ate while at Yachana Lodge. We actually requested them for our last breakfast. Sweet Francisco made them just for us! Thank you Francisco!

Have you ever had fresh coffee with cream and real chocolate? You are missing out if you haven't. This was the best coffee ever.
